Battle Mage's passive does not seem to work

Greetings,

I just found my first (quarter)staff and tried equipping it on my Battle Mage in order to benefit from the Protection and elemental defense buffs, but unfortunately that passive seems to not work properly. Neither Protection nor my elemental resistances went up.

If you could look into this, that'd be much appreciated.

Ah, the bonus doesn't actually refer to a quarterstaff weapon but to the magical wands and staves that can be used for spellcasting. The description probably could be more precise, eg. "magical staff" instead of "staff".

Just got a wand, and that did give me the bonus. A "rod" item I got earlier did not, however. So yes, I think the description of this particular passive might need a bit of rewording.
