Thank-you Dr Disaster! I read through all the wonderful comments people were making (thank-you so much for your efforts to help) but it was as simple as turning off the cursor trail that I have used to help me see the tiny wretched thing. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you. Now I'm going to see if this will fix the similar issues I'm having with Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Many, many thanks.
