Virtual resolution (AMD's VSR / nVidia's DSR)

Post by eLPuSHeR »

Hello.

I have been tinkering with visual resolution for my R9 290x Radeon card. This option enables rendering images at higher resolution and then downsampling them for display. This produces some antialiasing effect and the results are usually nicer.

Unfortunately AMD's VSR doesn't seem to work with LoG2. I can select higher resolutions but they are not downsampled at all. Even worse, mouse seems to not work at all, at least at the main menu screen.

I know nVidia has got its propietary approach called DSR. Anybody tried this?

I usually play at 1440x900. I would like to be able to boost resolution twice.

Well. It works. But only certain resolutions are supported, according to your native display resolution.

Anyway, I don't like the 16:9 aspect ratio at all.

nVidia DSR works without any problems.
I can go as high as 3840x2160 with my 1920x1080 display if i am willing to accept a drop of 25 to 60% in framerate, depending on the area i'm in.

It works for me too. Unfortunately I cannot stand the 16:9 aspect ratio for this game. I don't know why. So, that's why I am not even playing at native resolution (1920x1080). Good for testing though.
